Univa Corporation Collaborates with Mentor Graphics to Maximize Emulation Platform Utilization

Univa® Grid Engine® for Veloce® delivers a fully integrated, enterprise-grade solution for workload-managed SoC emulation

CHICAGO — (BUSINESS WIRE) — February 22, 2017 — Univa®, a leading innovator of workload management products, today announced that its Univa Grid Engine® software has been integrated with the Veloce® emulation platform from Mentor Graphics to accelerate workload throughput during the functional verification of complex system-on-chip (SoC) designs.

Univa Grid Engine for Veloce delivers a fully integrated solution that enables granular, transparent access to Veloce emulators, and significantly enhances utilization by enabling advanced features such as optimal runtime management (placement, suspension, resumption and relocation) and prioritized scheduling (based on importance or size, degree of interactivity) of queued jobs while gathering monitoring and reporting metrics.

“By collaborating with Mentor Graphics, to deliver an integration of the Veloce emulation platform with Univa Grid Engine, we have openly demonstrated our joint commitment to our mutual clients. This integration ensures the Veloce emulator is utilized optimally for customers, as emulators increasingly become an extremely valuable resource, in SoC verification,” said Gary Tyreman, CEO, Univa.

“It is extremely important that customers using the Veloce emulation platform maximize the usability of their datacenter-based emulation resources,” said Eric Selosse, vice president and general manager of the Mentor Emulation Division. “We’ve worked with Univa on a tight integration between Univa Grid Engine and the Veloce Enterprise Server App to streamline the workload management task.”

Mentor also uses the Univa Grid Engine software internally to manage its regression tests. To test their software, they submit the tests as thousands of jobs to be run on the cluster. Univa Grid Engine software makes sure that every machine is busy running tests. When a machine completes a test run, Univa Grid Engine software assigns it another, until all of the tests are completed.
