PLMIG provides a datasheet for the Professional PLM Steering Group

Oxford, England. July 18 2017 -- The concept of a Professional PLM Initiative has been developing since June 2017.

There is a groundswell of opinion that PLM should organise itself in a more professional way, to overcome the lack of recognition amongst other business disciplines; to define standardised levels of expertise; and to establish a genuine career path to the highest levels of management.

The weight of opinion is leaning towards internationally-agreed certification for new and experienced PLM Managers; with potential further development so that PLM becomes a genuine profession, alongside engineering, law, and accountancy.

Such a complex, international project as the Professional PLM Initiative needs a Steering Group. It needs the input and support of major PLM user and vendor organisations from the outset, to set the working framework and terms of reference.

Furthermore, it is likely that some kind of new industry body will need to be formed to manage and represent the PLM Profession into the future. A broadly-based Steering Group will be able to advise on how to set that up.

A new datasheet is now available via the PLMIG web site, and you can ask questions directly via Email Contact.

About the PLM Interest Group
Although it produces a wide range of toolsets for PLM, the PLM Interest Group does not provide training courses or certification. As such, the PLMIG can offer a neutral and independent platform for this discussion.
