WOC Launches “Young Ocean Professionals” Membership

The World Ocean Council Young Ocean Professionals (YOP) Initiative is a Global, Multi-sectoral and Educational Network to Support the Future of Sustainability in the Ocean Business Community

Sep 21, 2017 -- A vibrant new generation from the Ocean Community is emerging, deeply convinced that the “Corporate Ocean Responsibility” is the first priority and ready to take action now.

WOC has launched a global, multi-sectoral network of Young Ocean Professionals to foster and support these young ocean professionals who are ready and willing to:

Better understand the ocean (biodiversity, current state, economic activity impacts)
•Tackle sustainable development challenges and opportunities for the ocean
Ensure they are working to secure a healthy ocean and sustainable ocean economy

The WOC community invites all young professionals and graduate students interested in those topics to join the YOP Initiative.

The YOP network aims at growing internationally and organizing local events for YOP members to meet other like-minded professionals in their area. On a global scale, the YOP Initiative seeks to participate in international conferences and events as a representative of the up and coming generation.

YOP Members will also meet annually at the WOC Sustainable Ocean Summit. A workshop will be coordinated by the YOPs at the Sustainable Ocean Summit (SOS) 2017. The WOC is pleased to offer Young Ocean Professionals members an important discount fee for the SOS 2017 (more information here, or contact secretariat@oceancouncil.org).

In the coming years, YOP members will develop projects and documents on topics and areas they are passionate about.

To be part of the network and take part in the projects of the Initiative, fill the form here and for more information please click here or email YOP Secretariat at secretariat@oceancouncil.org.
