A video recording of Dr. Steve Cripps’s Microwave Application Seminar (MicroApp) keynote from European Microwave Week (EuMW) 2017 is now available for viewing (registration required) on ni.com/awr. Titled “Putting the Knee Into PA Modes,” the presentation discusses problems inherent in the widespread convention of ignoring the turn-on, or “knee” I-V function. Dr. Cripps presents a detailed analysis of common power amplifier (PA) modes that incorporate a knee function and reveals some surprising contradictions in mainstream PA strategies.
