OGC Calls for Participation in its 3D IoT Platform for Smart Cities Pilot

The Pilot will focus on two scenarios: real-time monitoring of indoor occupancy; and real-time monitoring of micro-dust air pollutants.

2 August 2019: The Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) invites interested members & non-members to participate in OGC’s 3D IoT Platform for Smart Cities Pilot

The Pilot is sponsored by the Korea Land and Housing (LH) Corporation, which is leading the Sejong Smart City Initiative. The goal of the pilot is to advance the use of open standards for integrating environmental, building, and internet of things (IoT) data in Smart Cities. The Pilot will focus on two scenarios: real-time monitoring of indoor occupancy; and real-time monitoring of micro-dust air pollutants.

Participants in this OGC Pilot will connect their technology and expertise with real city needs while collaborating with other participants to advance open standards for Smart Cities. The outcomes are expected to facilitate and standardize the access to environmental, building, and internet of things (IoT) data in Smart Cities. The sponsor is providing funding to partially offset the costs associated with the development, engineering, and demonstration activities that constitute part of this pilot.

This Initiative is being conducted under OGC’s Innovation Program, the research and development (R&D) laboratory of OGC. Under OGC’s Innovation Program, sponsors and OGC members come together to address geospatial IT challenges in an agile and cooperative manner. Since 1999, more than 120 successful initiatives have taken place, from in-kind interoperability experiments run by working group members, to hackathons, pilots, and multi-million-dollar testbeds with hundreds of participants.

While any interested party is encouraged to apply to participate, an active OGC membership is required at the time of participation. By becoming an OGC member you will contribute to shaping a world in which everyone benefits from the use of geospatial information and supporting technologies.

About OGC

The Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) is an international consortium of more than 530 companies, government agencies, research organizations, and universities participating in a consensus process to develop publicly available geospatial standards. OGC standards support interoperable solutions that ‘geo-enable’ the Web, wireless & location-based services, and mainstream IT. OGC standards empower technology developers to make location information and services accessible and useful within any application that needs to be location-aware. Visit OGC's website at www.opengeospatial.org.
