Butler County, Ohio Launches Accela Automation as New Enterprise E-Government Solution

SAN RAMON, CA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- Nov 15, 2006 -- Accela, Inc., the leading provider of government enterprise management software solutions, announced today that Butler County, Ohio has launched Accela Automation® as the county's new enterprise land management application. The application will be utilized across several departments within the county.

Prior to implementing Accela Automation, the department used six different means to track and manage permit information. Now activities associated with planning, zoning, permitting, inspections, and code enforcement will be managed through one central database, streamlining processes and eliminating paperwork.

Accela Automation will be utilized by 92 end-users within the Department of Development, including the division of Building and Zoning, the Engineer's Office, the Board of Health, the Soil and Water Conservation District, and Environmental Services. Employees across these departments have access to the centralized database, allowing them to operate more efficiently and work more cohesively as a unit.

"An automation project of this nature is unprecedented in Butler County's history," said Cathy Greulich, project manager from the county Auditor's Office. "Installing Accela Automation has empowered Butler County to improve customer service and communication within our own agency and with adjacent local agencies."

County Auditor Kay Rogers added, "Accela Automation has delivered the features we have been striving for, allowing us to make technological leaps."

The county also integrated Accela GIS™ with their new solution. Through Accela GIS, employees have direct access to view geographic representations of all land use information associated with a permit, plan, or inspection. By automating map analysis processes, the county will be able to save time by having needed geographic information at their fingertips.

"We are very excited to add Butler County to our growing list of jurisdictions that have selected and successfully implemented Accela Automation as their government enterprise solution," said Robert P. Lee, Accela's president and CEO. "Butler County is an excellent example of how agencies can use the latest technology to track and manage their business processes, improve efficiency, and increase productivity."
