Norcross, Georgia, USA — Leica Geosystems Geospatial Imaging announces NVision Solutions’ publication of an Emergency Response Data-Sharing white paper, outlining the benefits provided to organizations implementing a Leica TITAN GeoHub. A strategic partner of Leica Geosystems, Nvision Solutions previously created a MyWorld in the Beta release of Leica TITAN, featuring both vector and image layers of Mississippi, before and after Hurricane Katrina.
Recently, Leica Geosystems released Leica TITAN 2008, a dynamic online solution empowering users and communities to share geospatial data (including imagery, terrain, 3D models and feature datasets), web services and location-based content internal and external to an organization, and to a variety of client applications. Available for customization and implementation at the end February, a Leica TITAN GeoHub allows organizations and data providers to create their own secure community within the Leica TITAN Network. A GeoHub enables an organization to establish its subscribers’ permissions for data to be shared and published.
Headquartered in Bay St. Louis, within Hancock County, Mississippi, NVision Solutions understands the importance of having adequate imagery before and after a disaster. When Hurricane Katrina devastated the Gulf Coast, Hancock County faced the brunt of the storm’s destruction. While Hancock County had an adequate amount of imagery prior to Hurricane Katrina, the county lacked a centralized data sharing structure. After the storm, NVision and many other organizations realized the necessity of one single, secure network for sharing data.
“By employing Leica TITAN GeoHubs, NVision and other emergency response organizations are better equipped for future emergency response situations,” said Craig Harvey, CIO, NVision Solutions. “By fully addressing the social aspect of disaster data management, Leica TITAN promotes quicker decision making via real-time communication and collaborating on projects.”
“With a GeoHub and other geospatial processing and analysis capabilities in place, NVision is prepared to seamlessly and rapidly enable new subscribers to share and access data,” said Mladen Stojic, Senior Vice President, Leica Geosystems Geospatial Imaging. “NVision will establish the centralized tool for sharing, discovering, visualizing, accessing and retrieving geospatial information within Hancock County.”
