New developments for exporting parts and assemblies from SolidWorks to Catia V5
Santa Barbara, California, USA, Guangzhou, China, Lyon, France – May 28 2008 - Datakit, a leading Cad Data Exchange Company, announced today the availability of its data exchange solution for exporting SolidWorks parts and assemblies to Catia V5.
This interface is a Solidworks plug-in. This means that users can work from within their usual CAD environment and no longer need a Catia licence to export their SolidWorks data in Catia V5 format.
Samad Elboustini, engineering manager at Datakit explains: “this interface will be great news for many SolidWorks users who do not have a Catia V5 licence but need to supply their customers with files in this format”.
Solidworks part and assembly files, respectively SLDPRT and SLDASM are processed and exported as Catia V5 CATPart and CATProduct files. The assembly/component tree is fully respected. Moreover, users get exactly the same reconstructed tree and names on their hard disk.
The plug-in is delivered standard with reference plans hidden to facilitate the readability of the assemblies. SolidWorks 2007, 2008, and 2009 are supported. Like SolidWorks, the plug-in runs on Windows 32- or 64-bit platforms.
