ROCHESTER, NY – September 25, 2008 – Pictometry International Corp., a leading provider of geo-referenced aerial image libraries whose patented and proprietary technology is used globally to capture oblique image libraries, has captured, processed and delivered new oblique imagery to six Texas counties recently damaged by Hurricane Ike. The imagery was captured and processed within days of the devastating storm and will be used by county officials for damage assessment, recovery efforts and public communications.
As part of Pictometry’s Economic Alliance Partnership (EAP), Pictometry customers in Galveston , Harris, and Montgomery counties (all part of the Houston Galveston Area Council) as well as Liberty , Orange and San Jacinto counties were immediately eligible to receive a new imagery without additional cost.
“The EAP was designed to create an economic alliance between our commercial and government customers,” explained Pictometry’s Chief Marketing Officer Dante Pennacchia . “Essentially, we capture disaster imagery for commercial customers and share it with affected counties. The partnership helps defray the cost of an image capture for all involved and gives users a critical tool when they need it the most.”
Pictometry typically captures EAP imagery within hours of a natural disaster or catastrophic event. The imagery is immediately processed and can be delivered within days or made immediately available with Pictometry Online™. Either way, users are able to easily access relevant, high resolution imagery featuring 3D-like views of locations from multiple angles.
Pictometry EAP customers also receive Pictometry Change Analysis™, a software program designed to align pre- and post-event imagery in a side-by-side comparison for more meaningful analysis.
