MCLEAN, Va.—(BUSINESS WIRE)—December 8, 2008— SPADAC, a leading provider of spatially enhanced technology solutions, has been awarded a contract by the Ministry of Agricultural Development (MIDA) of Panama to develop and implement an enterprise solution for spatial data management in partnership with Google Earth TM through its Latin American reseller Gtt NetCorp Latin America.
“We are thrilled to have this opportunity to work closely with Google to provide a solution for the Panamanian government,” said Mark Dumas, SPADAC founder and CEO. “It has been a pleasure to partner with Gtt NetCorp to make this project possible and we look forward to more opportunities to support the international community with geospatial technology solutions.”
Building upon its patented EarthWhere ® technology, SPADAC will support Gtt NetCorp as it implements spatial data management policies and principles throughout the MIDA enterprise. As a reseller for Google Earth in Latin America, Gtt NetCorp will also implement Google Earth as part of the solution.
The objective of the system will be to provide MIDA with a means to organize internal geospatial data, discover departmental holdings of geospatial data and distribute geospatial data inter-agency wide within the country and internationally. This new data management system will also allow MIDA to interchange data with other organizations within the country.
“We’re delighted that Google Earth can support the Ministry of Agriculture’s efforts to make Panama’s agricultural sector more efficient, while providing the tools to better monitor and protect Panama’s environment,” said Clifton Ashley, regional sales director, Enterprise, Latin America. “Google Earth offers an intuitive picture of geospatial data that will make MIDA’s analysis and decision-making process simpler and, as a result, more rapid and effective.”
MIDA was established to promote and ensure improved economic, social and political development of urban and rural communities throughout the country of Panama, and to define and implement policies, plans and programs for the agricultural sector.
“This is an exciting project and we look forward to helping MIDA take its data management systems to the next level,” said Peter Borissow, SPADAC product manager for EarthWhere. “By integrating the streamlined spatial data management tools of EarthWhere with the resources and applications of Google Earth, MIDA will be able to better serve its mission by having the ability to access, store, distribute, analyze and duplicate a variety of geospatial data.”
MIDA joins the growing list of international agencies that are improving missions by implementing EarthWhere and geospatial data management solutions from SPADAC.
