Virginia Beach, Virginia Selects Accela Solution to Increase Efficiencies in Delivering Permitting Services to the Public

VIRGINIA BEACH, VA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- Apr 09, 2009 -- Virginia Beach, Virginia has selected Accela Land Management™ from Accela, Inc. to support the efforts of the Permits & Inspections division of its Planning department in providing services to the public in a responsive and professional manner that contributes to the health, safety, and welfare of the community.

The city implemented Accela's signature product, Accela Automation®, in 2006 to streamline processes related to code enforcement. With the addition of the land management application, Virginia Beach will have additional capabilities for managing all processes and activities related to permitting and building safety. Permits & Inspections staff will be able to access and share land use information from a centralized database, ensuring faster and more accurate response to the public.

"We are very gratified that Virginia Beach is expanding the efficiencies of Accela Automation across its enterprise," said Maury Blackman, Accela's president and CEO. "It serves as a great example of how government agencies can leverage leading technologies to operate more efficiently, improve customer service, and increase economic vitality."

Virginia Beach also selected additional Accela applications that will support the functionality of Accela Land Management in integrating GIS information and providing residents online access to services:

It allows creation of multiple map layers, automated map analysis, parcel and asset inventory management, direct editing of GIS data or files, and auto-distribution of information to mailing lists. It is built on the ArcIMS™ platform by ESRI®.

Accela Citizen Access™ provides real-time, direct access via the Internet to agency permit and land management activities.
