SAN FRANCISCO, CA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- Jul 29, 2009 -- Riverbed Technology (NASDAQ: RVBD), the IT infrastructure performance company for networks, applications and storage, announced that EPC Engenharia Projeto Consultoria S/A, Brazil-based experts in engineering consulting, projects, supply management, and project management for large corporations, has deployed Riverbed® Steelhead® appliances at locations in Brazil. EPC's Riverbed deployment has allowed the company to enjoy the benefits of IT consolidation without sacrificing end user performance. EPC experienced a return on investment in just three months.
According to Márcia Cunha Alves, IT manager at EPC, the main need of the company was to speed access to the company's centralized electronic content management software, a project management solution critical for the company. "Our engineering teams remotely access on a daily basis very heavy AutoCAD files of between 30-50 MB. For us, it was essential to streamline this task, and maximize the productivity of our engineers and designers. Accessing and downloading these files took what seemed like forever," she explains.
EPC installed Steelhead appliances in its headquarters at Belo Horizonte (MG), and at a remote office in Vitória (ES). The project implementation was performed by Triple A IT, an integrator from Minas Gerais, an expert in information technology services, which analyzed the EPC IT environment first to get the best solution for the company's network optimization needs.
With the Steelhead appliances installed, AutoCAD performance over the WAN is now accelerated by 28 times. "The speed provided by Riverbed has allowed us to centralize all of our applications and systems, including GED, email, antivirus and backup, to our central data center located in our headquarters office while at the same time delivering to our remote users a LAN-like experience," said Cunha Alves. "We've improved both our overall IT and business management by deploying Riverbed."
