(Aug. 17, 2009/Harrisburg, Pa.) GeoDecisions, an information technology company specializing in geospatial solutions, has contracted with the St. Johns River Water Management District (SJRWMD), based in Palatka, Fla., to provide topographic dataset conversions for its Environmental Sciences Division.

As part of the SJRWMD’s multi-year Vertical Datum Conversion effort, GeoDecisions will complete the conversion of approximately 100 topographic datasets that were derived from a variety of sources that are currently referenced to the National Geodetic Vertical Datum of 1929 (NGVD 29). To meet the federal and state requirements for more accurate vertical elevation datum, the conversion process will re-reference the datasets to the North American Vertical Datum of 1988 (NAVD 88).

GeoDecisions will apply advanced geographic information system (GIS) data conversion techniques to reproduce the topographic datasets with reference to the more accurate NAVD 88 spatial framework.

Since 2005, GeoDecisions has provided SJRWMD with technical support for environmental monitoring, restoration, and management, in addition to GIS data maintenance and mapping, geospatial and geostatistical analysis, GIS programming, and training.
