LizardTech™ Releases LiDAR Compressor 1.1 at the 2010 International LiDAR Mapping Forum

SEATTLE, Wash. — March 04, 2010 — LizardTech, a division of Celartem Inc. and a provider of software solutions for managing and distributing geospatial content, announced the newest release of LiDAR Compressor, which enables users to turn giant point cloud data sets into efficient MrSID files, at the International LiDAR Mapping Forum (ILMF) this week in Denver, Colo.

This latest release, version 1.1, offers improved lossless compression performance, better data quality for lossy compression and many other user interface improvements. “We’re very excited to be able to offer this improved version to our customers,” said Jon Skiffington, director of marketing. “By adding new features such as better progress metering and improved logging, along with support for MG4 in third-party applications such as ArcGIS 3D Analyst and Merrick MARS, our customers are able to easily compress and utilize all of the information in their point cloud datasets.” Demonstrations of these new features along with those of LizardTech’s entire line of geospatial products will take place in booth #103.

In addition, two members of LizardTech’s management team will be participating in forum presentations. Jon Skiffington hosts “How Best to Manage and Store LiDAR Data” from 12:00pm-12:30pm on Thursday, March 4, while Engineering Manager Michael Rosen leads “LiDAR Data Compression with MrSID Generation 4” from 10:30am-11:00am on Friday, March 5. Both presentations address several of LizardTech’s technological innovations, including the new wavelet-based technique for compressing LiDAR data sets as well as MrSID Generation 4, the latest version of the trusted MrSID format.

A trial version of LiDAR Compressor is available as a free download on LizardTech’s website at http://www.lizardtech.com/download/.
