Toronto: April 8, 2010… Following the tremendous success of 2012 and Uncharted Territory’s unprecedented use of eyeon Software’s Fusion and Generation VFX workflow software, Uncharted Territory has chosen to partner with eyeon on new projects going forward, including Roland Emmerich’s upcoming film project, Anonymous.
“Having just completed 2012, as Co-Producer and VFX Supervisor, it became apparent that it was necessary to change the production pipeline to be faster and more interactive. eyeon’s technologies were production proven for this process. We are pleased to further that partnership by working more closely with eyeon in upcoming projects.”
Marc Weigert, Co-Owner, Uncharted Territory
Companies like eyeon Software and Uncharted Territory have optimized their technologies and consequent use in production to create the most nimble workflow available today. Their inherent successes are due to continuous identification of the future production roadmap, aligning the necessary requirements quickly and cohesively.
“The days of jurassic production, throwing as many artists as possible on a shot, are thankfully receding. Today, multiple studios work on multiple shots, and production and technology must partner to produce the most efficient yet cost effective methodologies possible. We have seen that Fusion, combined with Generation, can increase output by up to 40 times!”
Joanne Dicaire, Director of Sales & Marketing, eyeon Software
As the number of shots and their complexities has increased over the years, production pipelines have been slow to adopt a more efficient methodology to match these demands. Uncharted Territory and eyeon recently worked together on 2012 to develop a workflow that will bring highly-proficient production into the necessary interactive process.
“It’s apt that this film is being produced in the Babelsberg studio where Fritz Lang’s Metropolis was originally produced. The new production pipeline with eyeon breaks artists free from the shackles of factory-dominated pipelines.”
Volker Engel, President, Uncharted Territory, Academy Award® winner
“Anonymous uses Fusion’s new GPU technology, which demonstrates how you can do so much more for less. We are very excited by this partnership with Uncharted Territory. Working more closely with real world film projects will refine current technologies even more and continue to push development for a new breed of film making.”
Steve Roberts, C.E.O., eyeon Software
eyeon is pleased to announce that Uncharted Territory is the first out-of-house facility to beta Fusion 6.1. We expect to see many innovative results as Uncharted Territory and eyeon work together to further refine their processes. For more information, visit www.eyeonline.com.

About Uncharted Territory
Uncharted Territory, LLC is a film production company based in Los Angeles, California. UT was founded in 1999 by Academy Award® winning Visual Effects Supervisor Volker Engel and Emmy Award® winning VFX supervisor and producer Marc Weigert. Engel and Weigert usually serve as producers or co-producers and visual effects supervisors on UT's projects. With their first production, the adventure movie "Coronado" in 2001, UT started a new paradigm for handling visual effects: Instead of contracting out to other established VFX houses, UT would build up a VFX crew from scratch by selecting freelance artists, managers and programmers and creating the necessary infrastructure (hardware and software), custom tailored to a single project only. UT’s credits include “2012” (winner of a Satellite Award and Nominated for two VES awards, “Anonymous”, “The Triangle” (winner of an Emmy Award), “Dark Kingdom” (Winner of a Diva Award). As a visual effects production services company, UT also provided VFX for “The Day After Tomorrow”.
