City Utilizes Software for Billing System and Expands Throughout Other Departments
July 28, 2010 -- Sandy, UT — The City of Concord, North Carolina, is experiencing continued benefits as a result of their implementation of Cityworks by Azteca Systems, Inc., the leading provider of GIS-centric management solutions. First deployed in the Wastewater department and soon expanded into other areas including Billing, Cityworks has improved Concord’s workflow and continues to expand across the City.
Before adopting Cityworks, Customer Service Representatives (CSRs) used their utility billing system to enter calls from citizens while the remainder of staff was using Cityworks to generate work orders. The City decided they wanted calls and work orders in the same system. As a result, Azteca Business Partner Technologies Edge™ created an interface to pump information back and forth between the two programs. When a service request or attached work order is closed in Cityworks, all comments and notes are transferred back into the utility billing system which then closes the call in the system, automating the process so it’s seamless and efficient.
With Cityworks, City CSRs continue to log calls at the account level in the utility billing system while every fifteen minutes the information is brought into Cityworks as a service request. Using Cityworks, managers track costs associated with calls which were previously unable to be tracked by the utility billing system. The City also utilizes Cityworks to gather information for state and federal reports and to track benchmarks for the City. Concord has deployed Cityworks into other areas such as Code Enforcement and plans to continue expanding throughout other City departments.
“The City of Concord has benefited greatly from the flexibility of Cityworks and its ease of use,” comments Jerry Laliberte, Project Manager for Technologies Edge and contract employee for the City of Concord. “It seems every month we find another new area to use it in to increase the efficiency of City employees.”
“Concord has taken advantage of the flexibility of Cityworks and put it to use in various areas of the City,” states Brian Haslam, President of Azteca Systems. “Just as Concord has, we continually see that once users become familiar with Cityworks, begin reaping its benefits, and realize just how adaptable it is, they begin using it in other areas and end up running with it. With its unique GIS capabilities and customizable nature, the possibilities for Cityworks are endless.”
