Longview Advisors Shares Key Finding from 2010 Collaboration & Interoperability Survey

Results offer timely insights into critical business practices

LOVELAND, CO, October 19, 2010 – Longview Advisors, organizers of the annual Collaboration & Interoperability Congress (CIC), today disclosed a key finding from its 2010 Collaboration & Interoperability Survey – an important indication of continued challenges for vendors in the collaboration and interoperability software and services market. Preliminary results from this year’s survey indicate a 15 to 20 percent decrease in CAD migration projects across multiple categories. While previous years have shown a trend toward increased CAD migration projects, this year suggests otherwise.

“The effects of budget tightening and organizational resource appropriation have taken their toll,” explained David Prawel, president at Longview Advisors. “We see traces of this element across multiple categories within our results, and we felt it was important to announce this at this important time of year as so many companies are preparing their annual budgets for next year.”

Longview’s annual survey looks at trends and business factors in important areas like collaboration, data exchange practices, preferred platforms and formats, 3D data deployment processes, software requirements, and much more. Readers may take the 12-minute survey at ( www.longviewadvisors.com), or at the websites of its sponsors listed below.

“The survey is a great opportunity for anyone in manufacturing to have a direct impact on improving the state of collaboration and interoperability in our industry. It’s a chance to turn a 12-minute contribution into potentially big improvements for many fellow manufacturing professionals,” said Prawel.

The survey will be available as part of Longview’s Collaboration & Interoperability Market Report, widely regarded as a valuable aid in determining collaboration and interoperability strategies, best practices, and processes in both manufacturing and supplier organizations, and the software companies who serve them. The Report will be free to the public via registered download when it becomes available later this year.

The annual Collaboration & Interoperability Market Report provides a collection of highly relevant invited papers examining the latest trends, issues and technologies in collaboration and interoperability. Many of the papers cover topics discussed at Longview’s highly regarded annual Collaboration & Interoperability Congress (CIC) ( www.3DCIC.com), held each year in May.

This year’s sponsors of Longview’s 2010 Collaboration & Interoperability survey include: Autodesk ( www.autodesk.com), the Connectpress Communities ( www.connectpress.com), Intel ( www.intel.com), MCADCafe ( www.mcadcafe.com), Spatial ( www.spatial.com), Tenlinks ( www.tenlinks.com) and Trubiquity ( www.trubiquity.com).  Out of appreciation for the data, Longview is offering prizes for every 20th survey taken. All survey data is anonymous and confidential; see ( www.longviewadvisors.com) for details.

The next annual Collaboration & Interoperability Conference (CIC) will be held from May 23 to 25, 2011 in Colorado. Visit ( www.3dcic.com) for the latest details.
