EWI Announces Manufacturing Innovation Summit

COLUMBUS, Ohio, Sept. 9, 2011 — (PRNewswire) —   EWI announced that it will host a Manufacturing Innovation Summit on October 27, 2011 in Columbus, Ohio in collaboration with The Manufacturing Institute. The Summit is the second in a series of leadership conferences organized by EWI to gather thought-leaders from both industry and government in a national conversation about how to strengthen U.S. manufacturing competitiveness through technology innovation, and ultimately create an actionable plan.

The Summit will be used to discuss potential manufacturing technology innovation models which require industry collaboration and public/private partnership. It follows a report published earlier this year by EWI entitled " Strengthening Manufacturing Innovation" which details the outcome of a leadership conference held in 2010 at EWI. The report identifies the need to strengthen the U.S. innovation infrastructure and lists potential innovation models that should be considered.

According to Email Contact, Vice President of Technology and Innovation at EWI, "There is a growing awareness that the U.S. is falling behind in our capacity to innovate and implement advanced manufacturing technology quickly and effectively. At present, our country lacks a cohesive, strategic plan for improving American manufacturing competitiveness through commercialization of advanced  manufacturing technology. We are trying to change that by increasing understanding of the issue and plausible solutions, and by providing the leadership and venue needed for successful collaboration."

Approximately thirty leaders from some of the nation's most innovative manufacturing companies will be invited to participate in The Manufacturing Innovation Summit on October 27. Follow-on events will be held for technology facilitators and representatives of state and federal government. Anyone interested in receiving information about or attaining results from the events should contact Nate Ames at Email Contact or 614.688.5135.
