Blom completes vegetation analysis using terrestrial laser scanning in Jihlava, Czech Republic

September 30, 2011 -- Blom Czech Republic and Control System International Ltd have completed a vegetation analysis survey using terrestrial laser scanning for SAFE TREES Ltd. The focus of this survey was to evaluate the condition of trees in Jihlava using LiDAR data. Blom’s terrerstrial laser scanning technology enables highly accurate and detailed data about the parameters of the crown and trunk of trees to be evaluated. The quality of data brings a much greater reliability and accuracy of the overall assessment than was previously achievable with traditional techniques. The collected data is used to process stress analysis; a requirement for determining the operational safety of trees for so-called pulling tests. The stress analysis consists of stressing tested trees with small forces and determining the trunk deformation (interpreted as resistance to breakage and torsion) and tilt of the root plate. The end result is the most detailed evaluation of the operational safety of valuable trees available.  Vegetation analysis using terrestrial LiDAR
