Uniquify Combines Design, IP Expertise to Deliver Low-Power, Low-Cost 10Gb Ethernet Controller to Tehuti Networks

SAN JOSE, CA -- (Marketwire) -- Oct 18, 2012 -- Uniquify ( www.uniquify.com), a leading semiconductor intellectual property (IP) and system-on-chip (SoC) design and manufacturing services provider, announced today that it successfully implemented the physical design of a low-power, low-cost 10Gb Ethernet controller integrated circuit (IC) for Tehuti Networks ( www.tehutinetworks.net) of Herzliya, Israel.

The international business partnership enabled the design project to be divided between register transfer level (RTL) code developed by Tehuti and the physical implementation of the TN4010 single port 10GbE controller from RTL to GDSII by Uniquify. Additionally, Uniquify sourced, qualified and integrated IP from two third-party vendors into the design including PCIe and Xaui SERDES and a phase lock loop (PLL) customized to meet Tehuti's specific requirements.

Uniquify delivered the final RTL to tapeout in two weeks using Perseus™, an automated proprietary SoC design management system it developed, meeting all area, power and performance goals.

"Time to market without sacrificing quality was an essential component of our requirements," says Nir Sever, Tehuti Networks' chief operations officer. "Uniquify exceeded our expectations and was effective in delivering the tapeout-ready TN4010 design in two weeks after our final RTL drop, a remarkable achievement."

The TN4010 chip specification required minimal die size for the smallest possible footprint, with power consumption of less than one watt. The device was manufactured in TSMC 65G process, offering optimum tradeoff for size, performance and cost.

"Tehuti's TN4010 chip design highlights our strengths and ability to work closely with a partner," concludes Josh Lee, Uniquify's chief executive officer. "The design challenges set by Tehuti were not insignificant, but our Perseus design management system helped us analyze issues at project start for more predictable design closure as evidenced by the very fast turnaround on the final RTL."
