Autodesk Kicks Off 14th Annual 3December Celebration on December 3

Honoring 3D Computer Graphics and Artists from Around the World


SAN FRANCISCO, NOVEMBER 28, 2012 - On December 3, 2012, Autodesk Inc., with support from HP, AMD and Intel, will kick off 3December 2012 - an annual celebration of 3D computer graphics and the artists who create them featuring a series of virtual and live events. From December 3-7, 3D artists around the globe will be able to get an in-depth look at work from some of the industry's top talent, learn from the pros and network with professionals through live events hosted by Autodesk, as well as virtual events, MasterClasses and tutorials hosted on the company's 3December website.

3December Live Celebrations
A live event will take place in the Autodesk Montreal Office on December 6, 2012 from 6 to 8 p.m. EST. The evening will include an impressive lineup of presentations from media and entertainment industry professionals leveraging Autodesk tools in their pipelines. Ubisoft Character Technical Director Kieran O'Sullivan will explain how his team created the characters and cinematics for the upcoming "Far Cry 3" video game release using Autodesk 3ds Max, Autodesk Maya and Autodesk MotionBuilder. Rhythm & Hues Digital Effects Supervisor Jason Bayever will give attendees a behind-the-scenes look at the making of the newly released film "Life of Pi." Additionally, Autodesk will unveil its new Animation User Group (AAUGA) page on AREA and present five new Masters. Following the live event will be an exclusive screening of selections from the Computer Animation Festival 2012 presented by the Montreal ACM SIGGRAPH Chapter from 8 to 10 p.m. EST. 3December Online
The live 3December celebration event in Montreal will be livestreamed via AREA, the company's online entertainment and visualization community, on Thursday, December 6 from 6 to 8 p.m. EST. Presentations and demos from the event will be available on AREA TV on demand after the event. The 3December website will also host free MasterClasses, tutorials, and exclusive videos from December 3-7 - including a presentation and Q&A with Blue Sky Studios' Jayme Wilkinson that will cover stereoscopic image creation and production.
