RoboTrue Laser Addresses Industry Requirements for Productivity and Performance

BROOMFIELD, Colo. — (BUSINESS WIRE) — March 20, 2013 — Spatial Corp, the leading provider of 3D software development components for design, manufacturing and engineering applications, has announced that Mitsui Zosen Systems Research Inc has released RoboTrue Laser, an application based on Convergence Geometric Modeler (CGM). RoboTrue Laser is a production line simulation tool which offers an advanced 3D software solution for industrial machines. RoboTrue Laser allows automated fixture design and offline programming for 5-axis laser cutting, significantly reducing the time and expense typically required to create NC data. Released by Spatial in 2011, CGM is the industry’s newest commercial 3D geometry kernel. As the 3D modeling kernel used in Dassault Systèmes’ V5 and V6 products, CGM has been the foundation of V5 products, proven in the most challenging application environments and used by some of the world’s largest manufacturers.

Mitsui Zosen Systems Research Inc. required both a 3D modeling kernel and CAD translation components which supported their vision of an easy-to-use, high-performance application to replace existing solutions and to deliver unique features to a competitive market. With customers spread across a variety of industries such as automotive, aerospace and machine manufacturing, Mitsui Zosen Systems Research had stringent requirements for multi-CAD interoperability. They were confident that 3D InterOp from Spatial could address their needs for flexible and reliable data exchange, but they knew that the choice of the 3D modeling kernel must address their rigorous development needs now and into the future. CGM addressed these needs with a consistent interface for easy integration as well as tolerant modeling designed in from the beginning to maintain geometrical and topological precision. CGM also provided large model capacity and performance; extensive surfacing capabilities to address stringent modeling requirements; and geometric data compatibility with V5 and V6 for well-integrated PLM workflows. Mitsui Zosen Systems Research Inc. also leveraged their partnership with Spatial’s local technical staff as well as the larger resources of the Spatial Corp development staff during the development of RoboTrue Laser.
