OpenGeo Launches Mapmeter at FOSS4G North America 2013

Sponsor Day Programming Highlights OpenGeo’s Newest Technologies

New York, NY, May 28, 2013 OpenGeo, the world’s leading commercial open source geospatial company, took geospatial deployment analytics to new heights on Friday with the public launch of Mapmeter beta, its groundbreaking server analytics console, while at FOSS4G-North America 2013.

Mapmeter is a full administration and management tool for analyzing GeoServer systems. Formerly dubbed “The Enterprise Console,” Mapmeter sits on top of GeoServer, either within the OpenGeo Suite or standalone, and makes it possible for organizations to monitor production geospatial deployments.

OpenGeo’s flagship product, The OpenGeo Suite is commercial open source software that gives customers access, control, customization and more while also providing standards compliance and expert support. With the addition of Mapmeter, spatial monitoring and reporting merge into a complete IT workflow.

The Mapmeter launch capped a busy week for OpenGeo in Minneapolis. The company led eight presentations, sat on two panels, and taught three workshops at the second annual Free and Open Source Software for Geospatial-North America conference. Additionally, OpenGeo CEO Eddie Pickle was on the panel “The Business of Open Source,” focusing on how the business models of open source companies have been evolving and what is in store for those companies.

The week was capped off by a full morning of OpenGeo programming, hosted by FOSS4G gold sponsors. Eddie Pickle began the day with the annual OpenGeo update, highlighting the company’s recent spin-out, and how OpenGeo and FOSS4G have grown together. Alyssa Wright and Tim Schaub followed with the official Mapmeter launch; the presentation featured a live demonstration of the impressive analytics tool. David Winslow then provided an overview of GeoGit, OpenGeo’s latest work on versioned storage for geospatial data. The session was closed out by Andreas Hocevar and Tim Schaub who presented on OpenLayers 3. These presentations provided FOSS4G-NA attendees with an inside view of the latest capabilities of OpenGeo technologies.
