ProTek Devices' New TVS Array Provides Circuit Protection in Computing Applications

The PLR3311 Protects Against ESD and EFT in Ethernet, FireWire, Wireless Devices, USB Interfaces and More

TEMPE, Ariz., Aug. 26, 2013 — (PRNewswire) — ProTek Devices today introduced a very low capacitance transient voltage suppressor (TVS) array designed to protect computing applications from the damaging effects of electrostatic discharge (ESD) and electrical fast transients (EFT). Such computing applications include Ethernet 10/100/1000 base T, FireWire, wireless communications devices and USB interfaces.

The TVS array is the PLR3311, which meets IEC 61000-4-2 (ESD), IEC 61000-4-4 (EFT) and IEC 61000-4-5 (surge) standards requirements. At higher operating frequencies or faster edge rates, insertion loss and signal integrity are a major circuit protection concern. The PLR3311 is designed to remove these concerns. This device offers very low capacitance (5pF [typical]) and low leakage current. It features 40 watts peak pulse power per line (tp = 8/20 micro amps) and a low clamping voltage. The PLR3311 protects one bidirectional line. The component is provided with a rated 3.3 stand-off voltage. It is RoHS and REACH compliant.

The PLR3311 is provided in a molded JEDEC DFN-2-0402 package. It has an approximate weight of just two milligrams. The package features lead-free pure-tin plating (annealed) and a solder reflow temperature (pure-tin - Sn, 100) of 260-270 degrees Celsius. It has a flammability rating of UL 94V-0. The operating and storage temperature for the PLR3311 is -55 to 150 degrees Celsius.

Pricing and Availability
ProTek Devices' PLR3311 is now available in mass quantities. Pricing is $0.07 in minimum 10,000 unit quantities. It is available in eight millimeter tape and reel, per EIA standard 481. A full data sheet can be downloaded here.
