Anyone Can Make a Robot!: Make your own robot -- it's easy! Using a remote controlled car base, a kitchen size trash bin, a lettuce container, dryer tube, and a couple of LED lights for eyes you, too, can have a robot companion.

Moving Made Easy - A Wheelchair Transfer Mechanism: Tinkerer and young maker (he's 12 years old!), Daniel Anand, created a screw-based, motorized wheelchair transfer device using a reclaimed ATV motor and a battery pack that allows users to get in and out of wheelchairs by themselves.

KARTS for Vets (Kinect and Arduino Rehab System): Budding engineer, young maker, and 14 year old brother of Daniel Anand, Joseph Anand has developed KARTS for Vets, a Microsoft Kinect and Arduino-based rehabilitation system to help injured veterans with their physical therapy (PT) requirements.

MapperBot: Dreamers, hackers, and engineers from Gotham Laboratories in NYC designed a quad coptor-based robot that will autonomously map the surface of a mock asteroid. This self-proclaimed "group of nerds" is passionate about how citizen science can revolutionize the aerospace industry. In April of 2013, they won the 2013 NASA Space Apps Challenge best hardware prize for this project.

Capturing Dinosaurs: The American Museum of Natural History staff is bringing 3D-printed dinosaur bones to World Maker Faire to help young attendees construct dinosaur models, create their own Dino-dioramas, and learn more about dinosaur bones.

Make Anything - Furry Electric Zoo: The Furry Electric Zoo is a project that helps foster a new culture of STEM (Science Technology Engineering Mathematics) through teaching people of all age and backgrounds how to make accessible, non-intimidating, and expressive technology projects. The Furry Electric Zoo kits use soft circuit projects to teach users basic electronic concepts such as circuit and switch as well as basic sewing skills while encouraging users to create fantastical creatures.

Kinetic Ontology - Sound Assemblages by Eric Farber: A forgotten flywheel is a giant music box; a Victorian sewing machine treadle plays a melody on Art Deco film reels, Eric Farber juxtaposes relics of old industry to build sonic and performative sculpture.

GrannyCam: Developed by Charles Hamilton, owner of HudsonWerks and NY-based maker, GrannyCam is a safe, durable, videophone for kids and their grandparents. Wireless, portable, one-touch, the device is designed to be friendly and simple for both seniors and their toddler grandchildren to video chat anytime.

The NeedleArts Zone: The National NeedleArts Association will be at World Maker Faire in force teaching Faire attendees to knit, crochet, cross-stitch, needlepoint and/or spin. All of the supplies in the NeedleArts Zone are donated and all instructors are volunteers. Come to learn one technique or stay all day -- it's free and all ages are welcome!

Build It Green!NYC: Build It Green!NYC will be back this year crafting with usable, second hand building materials, reclaimed from NYC construction projects. And for all those excess building materials not needed once the Faire is over, they'll take those, too, for future projects!

RockPaperRobot: RockPaperRobot is an engineering boutique specializing in the innovation and fabrication of kinetic furniture, lighting, and installation.

Tangeez: Tangeez are glowing, modular lights that change color as you stack them. As portable lights, an interactive building module, an educational toy or a physical pixel, Tangeez are a tangible way to play with light.

Sustainable Art: Austin-based artist, George Sabra, has been using reclaimed and discarded materials for 27 years to address environmental issues through temporary art installations. Coming to the Faire will be George's 14' high plastic storm funnel sculpture made from reclaimed plastic bottles, cups, jars, and caps which represent the massive "storm" of plastic waste humans generate as well as a 21' long plastic caps sculpture made from 25,000 of discarded and reclaimed plastic caps and lids.
Participating as a Maker Faire Goldsmith sponsor for the second time, Zazzle will be at World Maker Faire New York 2013 hosting "Make It Yours," an event where everyone can get creative -- adults, children, and all ages in between. There will be postcards with robot designs that attendees can color in and decorate. Also available will be photo buttons that anyone can create by taking a picture of themselves. With just a bit of imagination and all sorts of creative supplies, attendees can make these products uniquely their own. Zazzle will have merchandise on display to show all of their amazing products from skateboards to iPad cases, including products made by Brooklyn, New York, maker Case-Able.
Zazzle, based in San Jose, CA, with a manufacturing facility, is a marketplace where people can make and buy anything customized from iPhone cases to shirts. Zazzle is front and center in the maker movement by helping to change and evolve manufacturing in the U.S., making their involvement in Maker Faire a natural fit. Each product Zazzle sells is made to order, when ordered, typically within 24 hours. Zazzle is creating a radical new approach to manufacturing that allows for customizable, 'made-to-order' merchandise.
Tickets are on sale now for World Maker Faire New York 2013 at http://makerfairenyc.eventbrite.com. Tickets range in price from $10-$35 for a full day pass. Faire visitors can purchase tickets online between now and September 20, 2013, at online advance prices. Tickets can also be purchased at World Maker Faire New York 2013 on September 21 and September 22, 2013.

The original Maker Faire event was held in San Mateo, CA and in May 2013 celebrated its eighth annual show with some 900 makers and 120,000 people in attendance. World Maker Faire New York, the other flagship event, has grown in just four years and expects over 600 makers and 70,000 attendees this September.
