Semtech Enables OmniTek’s Introduction of the Industry’s First 6G UHD-SDI Test and Measurement Solution

Semtech showcases industry’s most robust 6G UHD-SDI connectivity solution at IBC Amsterdam

CAMARILLO, Calif. — (BUSINESS WIRE) — September 10, 2013 — Semtech Corporation (Nasdaq: SMTC), a leading supplier of analog and mixed-signal semiconductors, today announced its partnership with OmniTek, an industry leading manufacturer of broadcast test and measurement equipment. OmniTek, utilizing Semtech’s 6G UHD-SDI Equalizers, is the first broadcast test and measurement supplier to bring to market products featuring a 6G UHD-SDI interface.

Semtech’s Gennum Product Group will be showcasing its latest 6G UHD-SDI solutions at the International Broadcast Convention (IBC) show in Amsterdam, in Hall 10 booth #F30, Sept. 13-17, 2013. OmniTek’s 6G UHD-SDI card can also be seen at IBC, both at the Semtech booth and at the OmniTek booth #6.A18.

Semtech’s GS6042 6G UHD-SDI adaptive cable equalizer platform features the industry’s longest cable reach at 6G UHD-SDI, 3G, HD and SD data-rates. In addition, the GS6080 and GS6081 are the industry’s first 6G UHD-SDI cable driver platforms and, in conjunction with the GS6042, provide the industry’s most robust 6G UHD-SDI connectivity solution.

At IBC, OmniTek will be demonstrating a prototype 6G SDI input/output solution that employs Semtech’s GS6042 in the input SDI channels and its GS6080 in the output SDI channels. The 6G SDI module is an FPGA mezzanine card (FMC) that mates with OmniTek’s new OZ745 Zynq SoC-based broadcast development kit (also on display at IBC). The OZ745 is a unique tool for video engineers that enables complex algorithms to be prototyped using the power of the latest Xilinx XC7Z045 Zynq SoC devices.

OmniTek’s 6G SDI card offers two SDI input channels, two SDI output channels and a DisplayPort 1.2 input and output. The inclusion of the Semtech interface devices in the SDI channels allows the card to provide full coverage of all four standard SDI bit rates: 270Mb/s, 1.485Gb/s, 2.97Gb/s, and the new 5.94Gb/s rate (including the /1.001 variants). The new 6G SDI I/O channels mean that the OmniTek solution is compatible with both 4k x 2k @ 30p images using one 6G channel, or 4k x 2k @ 60p using dual-link 6G SDI. The DisplayPort 1.2 channels also support 4k x 2k @ 60p for connections to the latest flat panel displays and projectors.
