MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. – Nov. 5, 2013 – Career Girls ( www.careergirls.org) a non-profit organization founded by Linda Calhoun in 1995 to help girls and young women learn about potential careers and how to achieve their own goals, today released a series of video interviews with professional women from Silicon Valley. The video interviews are accessible now at www.careergirls.org, a free, non-commercial website, and include profiles of a wide array of industries and occupations, including medical, aerospace, engineering, science, the arts and many others.

Kathryn Kranen, President and CEO of Jasper Design Automation, is an advocate of Career Girls and a supporter of women and girls’ empowerment. Jasper hosted the video shoots at its headquarters in Mountain View and Kranen was interviewed for the project. The other women featured are: Kit Bridges, Sabina Burns, Theresia Gouw, Yvette Huygens, Joanne Linden, Sundari Mitra, Deepa Sampathu, Kavita Snyder, and Jingwen Yuan.

The videos CareerGirls SiliconValley Role Models- Insights Compilation and CareerGirls Silicon Valley Role Models What I Do are interviews with professional women from Silicon Valley and join the Career Girls online video archive of more than 200 interviews with women from around the country. Each Career Girl video interview is organized to provide an overview of the individual’s role and the company or organization where they work, as well as practical information about the education requirements and challenges of their career, and personal history details about the speaker’s individual career path and their advice for other young women looking to work in the same field.

“I have benefitted from multiple professional mentors in my life, and I know the importance of role models for all of us, but especially for women looking to join the business and technology worlds,” said Kranen. “Career Girls has taken a very exciting approach. By bringing videos of role models online, they can reach a wide audience. The videos are unique in that they provide inspiring visions of all types of careers, as well as real-life insights to help young women achieve their dreams.”

“Silicon Valley represents the forefront of business and technology advances, and many of these advances have been made possible by the women in the workforce here,” said Linda Calhoun, Founder and Executive Producer, Career Girls. “We are delighted to have so many inspiring women participating in our program and we believe it will have a significant positive impact on the future success of young women. Research has shown, seeing women role models working in the math and science fields help girls to stay on track academically in those subjects. And as Kathryn puts it in her interview, ‘Math is your ticket to ride.’ “
