Discontinuation of Windows XP: Nemetschek Allplan and Microsoft conclude a cooperation agreement

Special offer for architects and engineers in the first quarter of 2014

Germany / Munich, January 9, 2014 - Microsoft has announced that it is ending its support for the Windows XP operating system in April 2014. This means no more security updates, hotfixes, free or paid support, nor technical resources will be provided by Microsoft. The ending of support, unsupported software and obsolete hardware drastically increases the risk of system faults, virus attacks and PC failures. The consequences range from reduced system performance in the daily work routine to data loss and legal risks in regards to customers.

Nemetschek Allplan and Microsoft Germany have therefore joined forces to offer Allplan users a very attractive deal during the first quarter of 2014 in connection with the changeover of the operating system. Watch out for further details coming soon. By using the latest version of Windows 8, project and business data will again be protected by the latest Microsoft security standards.

Security and compatibility risks recognized
Oliver Gürtler, Head of the Windows business division at Microsoft Deutschland stated: “Due to the outdated security architecture of Windows XP, attacks from viruses, spyware and malware are virtually preprogrammed. That can in turn lead to the loss of all personal and business documents. Companies therefore risk not only the security of their own data, but also that of their customers and partners. A current security report shows that Windows XP computers fall victim to malware and harmful software 56 times more often than the 64-bit Windows 8 version, and the trend is rising.”

Dr. Jörg Rahmer: “Nemetschek Allplan has recognized the Windows security risks in good time. We can therefore assure architects and engineers working with Allplan on Windows XP that there is no need for concern about the security of their project data. Allplan software itself continues to be secure.”
