Toshiba Introduces New Family of Low Input Current-Type Transistor Output Photocouplers

Significantly Help to Reduce Power Consumption for Industrial Devices

IRVINE, Calif., Feb. 11, 2014 — (PRNewswire) —   Toshiba America Electronic Components, Inc., (TAEC)*, a committed leader that collaborates with technology companies to create breakthrough designs, has introduced a new family of low input current-type transistor output photocouplers that offer a high CTR (Current Transfer Ratio) at low input current.  The TLP182, TLP183, TLP292, and TLP293 significantly contribute to a reduction in power consumption by reducing the LED current of the photocoupler.

Available in both SO4 (TLP292 and TLP293) and 4-pin SO6 (TLP182 and TLP183) packages, by employing Toshiba's original high-output LED, these products provide not only a high current transfer ratio at the conventional input current of 5mA, but also at the same current transfer ratio at the low LED current of 0.5mA.  This makes it possible to minimize the current to the LED and therefore reduce power consumption.  The TLP182, TLP183, TLP292, and TLP293 also support operation at up to an ambient temperature of 125 degrees C, making them ideal for use in industrial devices such as PLCs and inverters, compact power supplies, AC line detection for household appliances, and other devices operating in extremely hot environments.
