Broadcom-powered Small Cells Enable Operators to Optimize Spectrum Efficiency

BARCELONA, Spain, Feb. 25, 2014 — (PRNewswire) —

BARCELONA, Spain, Feb. 25, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Mobile World Congress -- Broadcom Corporation (NASDAQ: BRCM), a global innovation leader in semiconductor solutions for wired and wireless communications, today announced that Quanta Computer Inc., a leading datacenter hardware solution provider and the world's largest notebook computer ODM based in Taiwan, has selected Broadcom dual mode small cell system-on-chip (SoC) solutions to power its next generation Qcell LTE small cell solutions for enterprise and residential deployments. Broadcom's integrated solutions allow Quanta to deliver high performance small cell solutions to the world's major network operators and service providers. Broadcom will showcase its small cell innovations at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, February 24 - 27. Visit www.connectingeverything.com to learn more.

Operators are expected to offload a large portion of data traffic over indoor and outdoor small cells to add needed bandwidth and coverage for subscribers, while maximizing spectrum efficiency. "Quanta has adopted Broadcom's state-of-the-art SoC solutions to enable our industry leading products for quite some time," said Frank Jiang, Quanta Vice President. "By integrating Broadcom's leading edge, highly integrated SoC solutions in our LTE small cell product line, we are providing our customers with the performance and quality they have come to expect in a single, integrated solution."

"Broadcom's dual-mode small cell SoCs allow carriers to optimize spectrum efficiency for an overall increase in network capacity and a smooth migration path from  3G to 4G/LTE," said Greg Fischer, Broadcom Vice President and General Manager, Broadband Carrier Access. "Leading ODMs such as Quanta can quickly build and deploy innovative small cell solutions to meet operator demand for increased bandwidth and network performance."
