DALLAS, Oct. 7, 2014 — (PRNewswire) — The Texas Humane Legislation Network (THLN), a non-profit organization dedicated to the passage of animal welfare legislation in Texas, announces its 2014 'Paws for PURRpose' online art exhibition which  is open for bidding.

The 27 art works are fiberglass life size dogs and cats that have been painted or decorated by artists from across the state.  Animal welfare supporters and art enthusiasts may browse and bid on the art online through October 17th by linking to the site from the THLN website ( www.thln.org).

The Texas Humane Legislation Network will use funds raised from the art event to pursue its 2015 legislative agenda including helping to pass a humane dog tethering law, a law to require peace officer canine encounter training in order to prevent unnecessary dog shootings, defense of the current puppy mill regulation statute, and a law to ban the private ownership of dangerous wild animals

About Texas Humane Legislation Network (THLN)
Texas Humane Legislation Network is a non-profit organization that has been working to pass mainstream animal welfare legislation at the state level since 1976.  For more than 30 years, THLN has led grassroots legislative initiatives in Texas and has a history of passing statewide laws for the humane treatment of animals.  Due to THLN's efforts, animal cruelty is a state jail felony; dogfighting and cockfighting are banned; large scale commercial breeders are regulated to ensure "puppy mills" can be shut down; tens of thousands of dogs and cats have been sterilized through funding from the Animal Friendly License Plate program; and gas chamber euthanasia is now banned in Texas animal shelters.   THLN encourages concerned citizens to register for its Action Alert emails to be kept informed on where and when to call in support of animal welfare legislation.  To learn more about THLN and to register for Action Alert emails, visit  www.thln.org.
