The 8th China (Chengdu) International Software Design and Application Competition as well as the 2014 Global Creative APP Development Competition (Chengdu Division) Successfully Held

-- To Promote Software Development in the Mobile Age

CHENGDU, China, Oct. 16, 2014 — (PRNewswire) — The 8th China (Chengdu) International Software Design and Application Competition as well as the Chengdu Stop of the 2014 Global Creative APP Development Competition was held at the International Conference Center of Chengdu Century City on the morning of Oct. 16, 2014. The event was guided by the Software Service Industry Division of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, Steering Committee of e-Commerce Programs of Ministry of Education, and China Software Industry Association, sponsored by Sichuan Provincial Economic and Information Commission, Education Office of Sichuan Province, and the Municipal Government of Chengdu, co-sponsored by IDG and Sina, and organized by Chengdu Software Industry Association, IDG World Expo, and Chengdu e-Commerce Association.

Focusing on the theme "To Promote Software in the mobile age," this event presented a wonderful technology competition to APP developers. Government officials including Fang Cunhao, Vice Director of Sichuan Provincial Economic and Information Commission, Li Changhong, Vice Director of Economy and Information Committee of Chendu Municipality, and Qiu Xudong, Vice Director of the Administrative Committee of Chengdu High and New Technology Industrial Development Zone, together with enterprise representatives including Lou Jun, Vice President of IDG Capital, Jiang Bo, Senior Product Manager of Qualcomm, Xiao Guang, Vice President of Baidu 91, Wu Jiang, Vice General Manager of e-Surfing App Store of China Telecom, Jiang Hong, co-founder and CEO of AVOS Cloud, Yi Yu, Vice General Manager of Yingchuang Growth, and Huang Chong, board member of Tongchuang Weiye/Nanhai Growth Funds, attended the event and carried out in-depth communication with the APP developers.

The 8th China Chengdu International Software Design and Application Competition as well as the Chengdu Stop of the 2014 Global Creative APP Development Competition attracted more than 500 developers to the site. The 2014 Global Creative APP Development Competition is a global competition co-sponsored by IDG and Sina, and organized by U.S. Mobile Internet Application Developer Association (MIADA) and U.S. Developer Association (USDA). The competition started a circuit selection in Beijing, Chengdu, Shanghai and Shenzhen in second half of September and will hold the final competition in Shenzhen on October 24. This year's competition also joined hands with nearly 100 Chinese media including Sina as well as nearly 200 overseas media to promote this event and to attract the participation of developers in different countries in the world. The competition aims at attracting outstanding APP development teams and individuals in China and helping the finalists by making recommendations of them, so that grass-root but very excellent teams and individuals have opportunities to stand out, thus driving China's mobile Internet market to grow fast.

Lou Jun, Vice President of IDG Capital, shared his opinion on creative development and investment of APPs in his speech. According to him, as mobile devices are already a life necessity, the novel, interesting and handy APPs running on the mobile devices have become the most important part that supports the rapid growth of the mobile platform. He believed the winning APPs with creative ideas have promising market prospects and investment prospects as well. Then, Jiang Bo, Senior Product Manager of Qualcomm also delivered a speech, in which he made thorough introduction of the industry-famed Qualcomm chips, 4G network, DSP processing technology and smart wearable technology.

In the following APP Demo section, 10 best APPs selected by the competition committee from a large number of creative works submitted to the competition of the Chengdu Stop demonstrated their work on-site. They are namely Gamepi, Master of Musical Instruments, ComfortBus, eParking, Home No. 1, OhMyEgg, TaoHome, Up!Bird, and HiGang. Five judges commented on these works from professional angles and gave them guidance on how to improve. These APPs covering a wide range including life service, games and entertainment, social network and useful tools are full of original creativity and apply advanced technologies, reflecting the considerate thinking of the developers and winning acclaims from the on-site audience. Finally, three most outstanding works - ComfortBus, eParking, OhMyEgg and Home No. 1 - won the top four of the Chengdu Stop and received entrance tickets to the final competition that will be held in Shenzhen in October. More than 500 APP developers, technology lovers and industry experts showed up for the competition of Chengdu Stop. What's more, five lucky guests won a Haier Air Box at the on-site lucky draw.

At the AVOS Cloud Developer Forum that was held as part of the competition in the afternoon, Jiang Hong, co-founder and CEO of AVOS Could, discussed the agile approach of mobile development with developers. Technical experts from Microsoft and Unity also had face-to-face communication with the developers.

Next, the Shanghai Stop and the Shenzhen Stop of the Championship will be held on Oct. 20 and 23 respectively, and the final competition will take place at Futian Shangri-La Hotel in Shenzhen on Oct. 24. The event is expected to attract more than 100 speakers who are industry leaders and generate reports by nearly 200 domestic and overseas media, with more than 6,000 developers visiting the event.
