SALT LAKE CITY — (BUSINESS WIRE) — November 12, 2014 — In one short year, Salt Lake Comic Con ( http://saltlakecomiccon.com/) has grown into one of the biggest comic cons in North America and is now the recipient of Pushbutton’s Best Use of Digital Media by Grow Utah and keynote speaker at the event.
Pushbutton is an annual event designed to bring together thought leaders, students and supporters of all forms and uses of digital media to celebrate and showcase the momentum occurring in this growing Utah industry. Grow Utah is a privately funded, non-profit organization dedicated to accelerate the creation of innovative, entrepreneur-led, high-growth businesses that will strengthen and expand the future growth of Utah’s economy.
“This award is a great honor and really speaks to the professionalism, dedication and expertise of the marketing team we’ve built at Salt Lake Comic Con,” said Bryan Brandenburg, Salt Lake Comic Con Co-Founder and Chief Marketing Officer. “Our marketing team members are rock stars that love what they do and play a critical role in the success of Salt Lake Comic Con and the events we produce. It’s an honor to work with them and I look forward to innovating so we can continue to live up to Stan Lee’s praise that we are ‘the greatest comic con in the world.’”
Since the inaugural Salt Lake Comic Con in September 2013, the last year has been a banner year for Salt Lake Comic Con. In addition to winning Pushbutton’s Best Use of Digital Media award, Salt Lake Comic Con was recently named the winner of the Utah Chapter of the American Marketing Association’s (AMA) 2014 Best Online Marketing Campaign.
The Utah Chapter of the AMA is a place where marketing professionals network, learn, problem-solve and share ideas. The AMA is a longstanding and trusted source for sharing knowledge, providing resources on education and career development, and promoting thought leadership in marketing. Its mission is to be a professional association for individuals and organizations leading the practice, teaching and development of marketing.
Salt Lake City Weekly also named Salt Lake Comic Con as the Best New Event of the Year. Salt Lake City Weekly is Salt Lake City's only free alternative newsweekly serving more than 208,000 readers along the Wasatch Front.
In May 2014, Dan Farr, Salt Lake Comic Con Founder and Show Producer was named alumni of the year by Salt Lake Community College. Salt Lake Community College is the largest higher education institution with the most diverse student body in Utah. The College offers online class options and operates 13 locations throughout the Salt Lake Valley.
The inaugural Salt Lake Comic Con was held September 5-7, 2013 at the Salt Palace Convention Center in downtown Salt Lake City, Utah and was a record-setting event. It was the largest first-time comic con in North American history and the most attended convention ever in the state of Utah with more than 72,000 attendees.
In April 2014 the Salt Lake Comic Con FanXperience (FanX) had more than 100,000 attendees to become the third largest comic con in the United States, the most attended convention in the state of Utah and the largest comic con in the North America per capita. Salt Lake Comic Con wins this prestigious award because their social media network reaches up to 3.5 million people a week and has more engagement than almost every other Utah company or any other comic con in the country.
“I know I say this all the time, but we couldn’t do any of this without the support of our fans and the Utah community,” said Farr. “We’re grateful for the support of our fans, partners, employees, the media and the great state of Utah and are committed to not only putting on great events but to also making Utah a better place to live, work and play. We’ve got some exciting news and events coming up and encourage our fans to stay tuned for more details.”
