Tampa Bay Company Supports Children's Arts Exposure and Business Network Through CSR: NTC Volunteers at 40th Annual Harbor Art and Seafood Festival

Continuing with the company's mission of corporate social responsibility, volunteers from NTC helped ensure that the Palm Harbor Chamber of Commerce 40th Annual Harbor Art and Seafood Festival was a success.

PALM HARBOR, Fla., Jan. 29, 2015 — (PRNewswire) —

PALM HARBOR, Fla., Jan. 29, 2015 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- In a study conducted by the University of California, researchers found students with high arts involvement performed better on standardized achievement tests than students with low arts involvement. This indicates that what students learn in the arts may help them master other subjects such as reading, math, or social studies(1). In response to the reported benefits of art on a child's overall academic success, as well as part of a continued corporate social responsibility (CSR) effort, Palm Harbor-based NTC (Nationwide Title Clearing, Inc.) NTC volunteered at the Palm Harbor Chamber of Commerce 20th Annual Harbor Art and Seafood Festival. On December 6 and 7, 2014, NTC staff put in a total of 24 volunteer hours during the two-day event by providing art related activities for children through the children's art tent.

The Palm Harbor Chamber of Commerce exists in an unincorporated part of Pinellas County, and therefore does not receive funding from the county. Events such as the Harbor Art and Seafood Festival provide operating revenue for the Chamber of Commerce and allow the organization to provide such services as the Welcome Center for Palm Harbor, business support, and fund raising for the community at large. The Harbor Art and Seafood Festival is one of the largest fundraisers for the year for the Palm Harbor Chamber of Commerce. NTC's contributions come at a time when corporate social responsibility (CSR) has become a mainstay in the business world – in fact, more than 3.5 million LinkedIn members have signaled on their profile that they want to serve on a nonprofit board or use their skills to volunteer, per a recent Forbes article.(2)

"The support of community members and businesses, such as NTC, is what helps keep the Chamber alive," says Palm Harbor Chamber of Commerce CEO Connie Davis. "Without the help of the community, we wouldn't be able to continue to service the community. We are grateful to NTC for all of their contributions."

NTC's efforts in supporting Tampa Bay organizations and community-focused initiatives have long been a part of the company's culture of integrating CSR as the core of its business model in order to take an active role in the viability of its community, extending beyond its products and profits. In addition to participating in the Harbor Art and Seafood Festival, NTC recently supported the Marine Toys for Tots® Foundation during the organization's annual holiday collection campaign and provided assistance at the Clearwater Jazz Holiday. NTC plans on participating in the Harbor Art and Seafood Festival again next year.
