Intel Joins with Mouser Electronics to Sponsor “Create the Future” Global Design Contest for Engineers

DALLAS & FORT WORTH, Texas — (BUSINESS WIRE) — May 19, 2015Mouser Electronics, Inc., the global authorized distributor with the newest semiconductors and electronic components, is once again sponsoring the 13th annual “Create the Future” Design Contest, a challenge to engineers and students worldwide to create the next great thing. Mouser is being joined in this sponsorship by Intel® and Analog Devices, Inc. The contest is produced by Tech Briefs Media Group, an SAE International Company.

The grand prize winner will receive global recognition and a cash prize of $20,000 for an innovative product that benefits society and the economy. "Advancing technological innovation is at the core of what we do here at Mouser and we are very excited to support design engineers by once again helping to sponsor this global design contest for them,” said Kevin Hess, Mouser Electronics' Vice President of Technical Marketing.

“Intel is committed to inspiring and enabling inventors, entrepreneurs and design engineers to rapidly prototype, innovate and develop products. With products like Intel® Edison, we are delivering smaller, more power efficient products with built-in wireless connectivity. We are enabling the industry to rethink where – and in what situations – connected computing is possible and desirable – from robotics and drones to small consumer internet of things devices like wearables. We are excited to join Mouser Electronics in sponsoring this innovative design contest,” said C.J. Bruno, Intel VP, GM of the Americas.

The “Create the Future” Design Contest has been responsible for bringing attention to product designs that increase the quality of life, improve the efficiency and quality of healthcare and help to reduce dependence on non-renewable energy sources. The Contest was launched in 2002 by the publishers of NASA Tech Briefs magazine to help stimulate and reward engineering innovation.

The grand prize winner will be chosen from the winners in seven entry categories including Aerospace & Defense, Automotive/Transportation, Consumer Products, Electronics, Machinery/Automation/Robotics, Medical, and Sustainable Technologies. Contest entries can be submitted by an individual or a team. An independent industry panel will judge the entries. Web site visitors are invited to vote for their favorite entry.
