3D PDF Consortium Names New Executive Director

Former CAD industry veteran joins business consortium to promote the exchange of 3D information

Portland, OR, July 7, 2015 – Today the 3D PDF Consortium announces that Jerry McFeeters P.E., a 30+-year high tech industry veteran and leader with extensive experience in CAD/CAM, data translation, and 3D PDF technology, will succeed founder Dave Opsahl as the executive director effective immediately. Mr. Opsahl resigned as executive director at the end of 2014 to assume Tech Soft 3D’s position on the 3D PDF Consortium Board of Directors.

Mr. McFeeters was a pilot in the United States Air Force and subsequently entered into the software field by taking a position with industry leader Computervision, beginning a 25 year career in the CAD/CAM industry. The last 13 years of that period involved a variety of roles at other industry leaders such as Intergraph, Calma, ITI TranscenData, Octal, and Theorem Solutions. Most recently, Mr. McFeeters spent several years as a civilian employee of the US Department of Defense and focused on the integration of 3D PDF into a variety of workflows.

“We are very pleased to have Jerry take on the task of administering the affairs of the Consortium”, says Dave Opsahl, vice president of corporate development at Tech Soft 3D, 3D PDF Consortium board member and treasurer. “While 3D PDF has been widely adopted globally, and is now an accepted part of virtually every MBD/MBE strategy, it is new enough that finding someone with both the industry experience and the familiarity with 3D PDF is still somewhat rare.”

The 3D PDF Consortium is a group of end-users, software vendors, systems integrators, developer and software toolkit providers whose charter mission is to encourage the continued development and adoption of 3D PDF as a truly open standard for visualization, collaboration, data exchange and the long-term archiving of engineering data. The Consortium now numbers 19 companies, including Adobe, Boeing, and General Electric.

“Dave has done a superb job of getting the Consortium established” says Stephen Collins, Anark CEO and 3D PDF Consortium president. “So, we are very happy to have someone with Jerry’s unique experience and background on board to continue the Consortium’s progress in effectively supporting the adoption of 3D PDF throughout the manufacturing community.”
