Vicon Vantage Debuts in the US at SIGGRAPH 2015

Attendees will see Vantage in action, presentations by Vicon customers, including ILM, Digital Domain and Epic Games, and virtual reality demos powered by Vicon systems

Oxford, UK – SIGGRAPH 2015 (booth #729) – July 28, 2015 –  Vicon, the motion capture (mocap) technology specialist for the entertainment, engineering and life sciences industries, today announced that it will showcase its new intelligent flagship camera platform, Vicon  Vantage, for the first time in the U.S. at SIGGRAPH 2015. Vicon will also host a series of customer presentations, in-booth demonstrations and workshops at its booth (#729), and power virtual reality applications at the event taking place on August 10-13 in Los Angeles, California.

Vicon Vantage has been intelligently designed to work cohesively with each of its components to provide up-to-the-minute information to the system operator. Crucially, it continuously monitors its performance with a host of new sensors, giving the user visual feedback through the on-board camera display, in the software and on Vicon’s new tablet application, Control. The Control app frees the user from the capture PC, giving them the opportunity to make adjustments on the fly, ensuring a ‘right first time’ approach. During the show, Vicon will also showcase its  PegasusCaraBlade and  Trackersoftware applications.

Guest speakers at Vicon’s booth will take attendees behind the scenes on their latest projects and include:

As a finalist in the Real-Time Live Immersive Realities (VR/AR) Contest, Vicon customer Artanim, a non-profit foundation dedicated to the development and promotion of motion capture, has been selected to demonstrate its "Walking through a pharaoh's tomb” project, showcasing an immersive platform that combines Vicon motion capture systems with virtual reality headsets. SIGGRAPH attendees will have the opportunity to try the platform at the VR Village, as well as on Vicon's booth.

The Real Virtuality demonstration during the Immersive Realities Contest and at the VR Village will use 16 Vicon Bonita cameras to power a number of virtual reality applications. In south hall G, the VR Village will showcase real-time immersion in tomorrow’s virtual and augmented realities with live performances and demonstrations. Some of the contributors at the VR Village include Artanim, Dr. Ken Perlin from NYU and the S3D Centre at Emily Carr University of Art + Design. Throughout SIGGRAPH, attendees can explore the fascinating potential of these new formats for telling stories, engaging audiences, and powering real-world applications in health, education, design, and gaming.
