Si2 Names New Staff in OpenStandards and Membership

AUSTIN, Texas — (BUSINESS WIRE) — August 11, 2015 — Silicon Integration Initiative (Si2) announced today that Jerry Frenkil has been appointed as Director, OpenStandards, to help develop and implement standards supporting interoperability between solutions across the Electronic Design Automation (EDA) supply chain. Additionally, Terry Berke has taken on the role of Member Services Manager and will focus on improving communications and services for Si2 members.

Jerry has a wealth of experience within the semiconductor and EDA Industry, as well as prior leadership roles in Si2 standards development activities. Jerry will lead the new OpenStandards Group at Si2, which will consolidate several ongoing standards development efforts. OpenStandards, as a new business model and structure at Si2, will draw upon Jerry’s extensive leadership and technical experience, in particular, his past roles in the start up of new ventures.

Current projects which will be included in the one-fee, OpenStandards group include: OpenPDK, OpenDFM, Chip-Package Codesign, Low Power, and Silicon Photonics. Others will be introduced from an incubation stage as part of the new Special Interest Group program. This development flow stems from a complete redesign of the Si2 standards development efforts that become effective in 2016.

Jerry comments, “I am excited to continue my work with Si2 in this newly expanded role. I am fortunate to be involved in this new effort that will literally change the way standards development is done at Si2.”

Terry Berke brings to bear many years of experience in marketing and member-focused activities at SEMI—a trade association on the manufacturing side of the semiconductor industry. In this new role Terry will help Si2 members better understand their benefits and how to extract more value from their memberships.

“I am excited to be part of the change occurring at Si2,” states Terry. “The changes reduce the cost and increase the value of current members. They’re being met with enthusiasm from our Board and members.”
