Participate in America Recycles Day and Give Used Tech a Second Life

As you prepare for the Holidays, Dell encourages everyone to give your used electronics a second life by bringing them to their nearest Goodwill location. Dell Reconnect, a program that collects used electronics for recycling and reuse at over 2,000 Goodwill locations across the U.S., makes getting rid of old technology easy and free, with trained staff at participating Goodwill stores inspecting each donated piece of equipment, cleaning the device and determining whether it can be reused, refurbished or recycled. All proceeds from devices that can be reused or refurbished go directly to Goodwill, with each donation helping disadvantaged or disabled members of the local community with job training and technology skills through Dell-sponsored programs.

Taking place on Nov. 15, America Recycles Day offers a great way to participate and learn about how each of us can limit our contribution to e-waste. To mark American Recycles Day, Dell – in partnership with Uber and Goodwill NYNJ– is offering New York City residents free pick-ups for used technology as part of the companies’ joint “NYC Tech Takeback.” On Nov. 14 between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. Eastern, residents of Manhattan, Queens and Brooklyn can take part in NYC Tech Takeback by opening the Uber app, entering the promo code TECHTAKEBACK and requesting an on-demand pickup at their home or office. A driver will collect the used technology and transport it to a Goodwill NYNJ location for recycling. All technology drop-offs are free.
