Esri Partner Quorum to Demonstrate Legislative GIS at User Conference

Improving Policy Research with Geospatial Technology

REDLANDS, Calif. — (BUSINESS WIRE) — June 29, 2016 — At the 2016 Esri User Conference (UC), new startup and Esri partner Quorum will show how geospatial technology integrates with its self-titled legislative platform. Quorum will exhibit in the Startup Zone of the Esri Showcase Expo and also be featured in Esri’s public policy team envisioning center presentation in the National Government Pavilion in Hall C on Wednesday, June 29.

Launched in 2015, Quorum creates software that enables anyone to influence the legislative process through modern tracking, targeting, and outreach tools. Its online platform tracks legislation and dialogue in Washington D.C. and all 50 states, leverages quantitative analytics to help users identify potential champions, and enables advocates to easily contact legislators and their staff. During the UC, Quorum will demonstrate a typical day in the life of a policymaker using Quorum workflows.

“We are excited to have Quorum join the Esri Start-up Program,” says Lauren Lipovic, Esri’s public policy lead. “Esri’s partnership with Quorum demonstrates the growing application of GIS in policymaking and constituent engagement. Together, we’re enabling every person in a policy-focused organization to discover, make, and share maps and data for smarter decision making.”

Quorum's partnership with Esri enhances users' experience by enabling them to interact with thousands of demographic datasets side by side with Quorum's comprehensive legislative data and analytics. Policymakers can use Quorum to combine and map information, generating useful insights about constituent demographics, visualizing their impact in a district, and creating comprehensive profiles that demonstrate the value of advocacy issues to lawmakers.

“We're thrilled to partner with Esri and continue to revolutionize political advocacy,” says Jonathan Marks, co-founder and technical lead of Quorum. “Providing both legislative and demographic data will enable influencers to better identify which members of Congress might be most amenable to supporting a given bill or resolution. Combining Esri demographic data with Quorum's legislative analytics will help inform legislative tracking and targeting in ways that have never before been possible.”

Esri has partnered with the White House, Congress, political campaigns, and advocacy organizations to support a robust democracy. At the UC, Esri will share many public examples of how GIS informs policy making.
