First responders, business leaders and other industry representatives engaged in a two-day symposium entitled “Leading the Way: Innovation for Mission-Critical Communications,” hosted by Harris Corporation in Melbourne, Florida. Symposium discussions ranged from system migration, to transitioning from land mobile radio to broadband, to the future of public safety technology.
The symposium featured a keynote address by Bill Bratton, Chairman of Teneo Risk, former commissioner of the Boston and New York City police departments and former Chief of Police in Los Angeles. Commissioner Bratton, a global expert on risk and security issues, talked about his vast experience with technology, how innovative technology has accelerated change and what he thinks is next.
“Throughout history, technology has never been the revolution itself – it has been the accelerator,” said Bratton. “The technology won’t do the work for you, but with innovative technology, good cops can be made into great cops, and great cops become even better.”
Participants also explored new public safety and other technologies on display at Harris’ 2017 Technology Expo, held throughout the week at the company’s Global Innovation Center.
