Keynote Presentation to Focus on Innovation through Technology and Training at HxGN LOCAL Automotive Summit

Jeff Krause, CEO of SME, to deliver Keynote Presentation

September 27, 2017 -- Hexagon Manufacturing Intelligence today announced Jeff Krause, Chief Executive Officer of SME a nonprofit manufacturing association, will deliver the keynote address for their day-long HxGN LOCAL Automotive Summit on Tuesday, October 10, 2017. The keynote presentation entitled "Automotive Manufacturing: Innovation through Technology and Training" will cover the historic changes occurring in both vehicle capabilities and advanced manufacturing technologies. Krause will discuss the real-time challenges faced by the industry including the need to equip the current and future workforce with the skills necessary to capitalize on innovation possibilities. Jeff Krause brings forty years of automotive, business and manufacturing experience to the conversation. As the head of SME - a nonprofit  dedicated to promoting advanced manufacturing technology and training the workforce – Krause offers insights into the current state of manufacturing technology. During the keynote, Krause will explore the latest trends in automotive manufacturing processes and technology, such as automation, robotics and additive manufacturing. He will also talk about the tools, knowledge and skills needed in tomorrow's automotive workforce to compete and achieve long-term success.

Krause joined SME as executive director and chief executive officer in December 2014. Prior to SME, he served as Vice President of Automotive Aftermarket and Business development for Intraco. Krause began his career with General Motors in 1977 and transitioned to Delphi in 1999. He has extensive experience in many facets of the business and has served in key leadership positions, including general management, business development, sales and strategic planning at the product line and corporate levels. Krause also served as Vice Chairman of the General Motors Foundation. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in industrial administration from Kettering University and a Master’s degree in Business Administration from Harvard University.

In addition to the keynote presentation, the morning program of the HxGN LOCAL Automotive Summit includes informative sessions on closed-loop manufacturing, portable metrology, quality and automation in composites, and HxGN SMART Quality for automotive applications. Two additional sessions will cover cost reduction strategies for Automotive OEMs and how to outperform automotive check fixturing with automated non-contact measurement. The afternoon schedule offers live application demonstrations at the Hexagon Wixom Solution Center.
