Gainesville Regional Utilities Use MIMS Mobile for Hurricane Irma Restoration Efforts

Carlsbad, CA – September 26, 2017 – When Hurricane Irma impacted the Gainesville area with approximately 12 inches of rain and wind gusts of up to 70 mph, GRU assigned storm roles to more than 800 employees to prioritize restoration efforts. On September 19, 2017, GRU announced restoration of all customers with 86% of customers restored within 48 hours.

MIMS Mobile assisted approximately 60 staff assess and collect damage managed by the ArcGIS Platform and broadcast in near real-time throughout GRU using ArcGIS Portal, ArcGIS Web Apps and ArcGIS Operation Dashboard.

“A testament to the simplicity of MIMS Mobile is evident by just a 30-minute training class that was given on how to use MIMS Mobile and how to complete the damage assessment. The flexibility of MIMS Mobile was demonstrated by adjustments to searches for end users within minutes of the request using MIMS Configuration and then deployed to all users upon the next MIMS Sync cycle. One of the top favorites with MIMS Mobile is the performance of the application, the speed at which the map redraws, fast searches and the capability of attaching photos to a damage assessment. From the damage assessments collected with MIMS Mobile we will be able to generate materials requests at the warehouse and determine estimated restoration time based on estimated man-hours.”
