Expanded 55th Design Automation Conference Program Content Drives Unprecedented Exhibition Growth

Fortune 100 companies such as Google, AWS, and Alibaba Cloud Services set to showcase their leading-edge innovations for designers

LOUISVILLE, Colo. — (BUSINESS WIRE) — April 18, 2018 — When the 55th  Design Automation Conference opens June 24, a record number of first-time and returning exhibitors will greet design engineers. DAC will host exhibitors such as NEC Corporation, IBM Corporation, Amazon Web Services (AWS), Alibaba Cloud Services, Pvt. Limited and Xilinx, Inc. as well as the presence of Microsoft and perennial companies Cadence Design Systems, Mentor, a Siemens Business, and Synopsys.

A total of 175 companies will exhibit at the Moscone West Center, San Francisco, the largest total for a DAC since 2011. Included in that will be 37 first-time exhibitors to the show, the highest number of new companies in recent memory, said Sharon Hu, 55th DAC General Chair.

“DAC has always attracted leading-edge electronics systems designers, who are inventing tomorrow,” said Hu. “DAC exhibitors recognize that if they want to contribute to a conversation about the future of design, they need to exhibit at DAC.”

Rob van Blommestein, DAC Industry Liaison Chair and vice president of marketing at Oski Technology, said fueling the surging DAC exhibit participation has been a steady expansion of the technical program targeted towards designers in recent years. This year’s DAC program features technical topics such as AI/machine learning, IoT, storage and security along with the traditional technical sessions on electronic design automation (EDA), IP and embedded systems. A new Design Infrastructure Alley featuring exhibitors targeting the IT and design-on-cloud engineers, a Smart Systems Square for those system and application engineers and a half-day Hackathon will highlight the exhibition floor. There is also a new IP Speaks Pavilion that complements the ever-popular IP Track. No other conference brings all of these key components of design into a single space where designers and decision makers can see and learn first-hand how the best practices and solutions have an impact on their own innovations.

“As design challenges get more complex with technological advances like artificial intelligence, edge computing and autonomous vehicles, designers are looking to DAC, its extensive technical program and exhibitors for answers,” said Hu. “It’s really a renaissance of the preeminent design conference in the world.”

Submissions to the Designer Track soared 10 percent this year, and most returning companies have secured larger booth space on average than DAC 2017.

The 55th DAC at this point is nearly sold out, van Blommestein said. Space is going quickly and interested companies can contact Hall-Erickson, exhibits@dac2018.com.

Advance Registration is now open along with the I LOVE DAC exhibit registration pass. For more information on exhibits, conference and registration, visit the Design Automation Conference http://www.dac.com/.

About DAC

The Design Automation Conference (DAC) is recognized as the premier event for the design of electronic circuits and systems, and for electronic design automation (EDA) and silicon solutions. A diverse worldwide community representing more than 1,000 organizations attends each year, represented by system designers and architects, logic and circuit designers, validation engineers, CAD managers, senior managers and executives to researchers and academicians from leading universities. Close to 60 technical sessions selected by a committee of electronic design experts offer information on recent developments and trends, management practices and new products, methodologies and technologies. A highlight of DAC is its exhibition and suite area with approximately 200 of the leading and emerging EDA, silicon, intellectual property (IP) and design services providers. The conference is sponsored by the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM), the Electronic Systems Design Alliance (ESDA), and the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), and is supported by ACM’s Special Interest Group on Design Automation (ACM SIGDA).
