Foundation to host a variety of opportunities for learning, discussion, and networking

Herndon, Virginia (October 18, 2018)—The United States Geospatial Intelligence Foundation (USGIF) is excited to announce a variety of events taking place November 12 through 17 as part of its 2018 GEOINT Community Week. USGIF’s annual GEOINT Community Week brings together the defense, intelligence, homeland security, and commercial geospatial intelligence (GEOINT) communities for a week of workshops, educational outreach, forward-looking discussion, networking opportunities, and celebration.

“Following record-setting attendance at USGIF’s recent series of events in St. Louis, Mo., we’re excited to offer a rich and diverse, week-long set of programs, culminating with the GEOGala, the annual celebration of our extended GEOINT Community,” said USGIF CEO Keith J. Masback.

The 2018 GEOINT Community Week lineup includes the following events.

GIS Day annually celebrates how GIS makes a difference around the world. Each GIS Day, USGIF takes the opportunity to educate K-12 and college students about how GIS is just one of many topics under the GEOINT umbrella. Every year, USGIF also exhibits at George Mason University’s (GMU) GIS Day event, where students can stop by the USGIF table to learn about the Foundation, USGIF membership, and the Foundation’s Young Professionals Group. USGIF will also host a  networking reception at GMU sponsored by Radiant Solutions.

Geography 2050 | November 15-16

Organized by the American Geographical Society and taking place at Columbia University in New York City, Geography 2050 is a multi-year, high-level strategic dialogue among thought leaders from academia, government, and business.
