The new COVID-19 resources include a Crisis Response Starter Kit which allows schools to connect to and distribute critical information from trusted sources, as well as fast-track urgent announcements or news through push notifications or other priority channels. The kit is fully customizable with school branding and can be added and deployed to a Modo app, without code or any advanced technology skills, within an hour.

Many schools including the University of Utah are already using the Crisis Response Starter Kit to drive proactive communication and engagement with their campus community. Utah saw immediate value in the starter kit and quickly added it to their Modo-powered app, adapting it to critical topics in their community such as their COVID-19 hotline, tips for online learning, and guidance for staying healthy.

Modo will soon launch additional rapid starter kits focused on the unique needs of both graduating and incoming students, where traditional engagement events and opportunities are limited by current restrictions on on-campus activities.

The Admitted Student Engagement Starter Kit will help enable schools to maintain their goals in maximizing student attainment and enrollment by offering virtual campus tours, hosting remote student orientations and Admitted Students’ Days, and providing easy connection options for student questions – all through students’ mobile devices. The kit will also provide a comprehensive playbook for campuses looking to fully leverage their campus app to maintain and nurture interactions with admitted students and their families, while building excitement through the spring and summer, in preparation for the fall semester.

For new graduates, the Virtual Commencement Starter Kit will allow customers to organize virtual commencements and provide access to an experience that reflects the personal once-in-a-lifetime nature of graduation. Students and their families will be able to stream live and pre-recorded commencement speeches, virtually partake in senior traditions, and stay fully connected while planning for the delayed on-campus celebrations that many schools are scheduling. Should an onsite event take place at a later date, the kit can easily become the foundational event mobile app for the onsite commencement, building on the excitement and content of the previously created virtual event.

Modo is also developing complementary starter kits to support mental health and wellness, new student orientation, and employee onboarding that are set to launch later this spring.

In addition to these resources, and best-in-class support already provided to customers, Modo is providing an array of no-cost services and guidance, including webinars, a library of customer examples, and user group access, all in an effort to help higher education institutions proactively inform, engage, and empower their users in real-time.

“Colleges are more than learning centers – they are crucial information and organization hubs, often at the center of a student’s life. Particularly in times of crisis, these institutions need enduring connections to their existing and incoming students,” said Stewart Elliot, CEO of Modo Labs. “We’re proud to have such a robust community committed to serving these students by sharing ideas, and by recognizing that their campus app is an integral component of each student’s experience, regardless of where they’re learning.”

Modo will be co-hosting a webinar along with the University of Findlay on Driving Digital Admitted Student Engagement (Wednesday, April 22 at 2:00 p.m. EDT – Information and registration here). Together, they will share strategies and provide an engagement playbook to keep incoming students and parents confident and enthusiastic about their first year. Topics will include proven best practices for driving engagement, campus culture, and community today and into the start of the semester.
