Program highlights include cutting-edge research presentations, thought leader keynotes, student competitions, and annual awards event

What: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) hosts its annual International Mechanical Engineering Congress and Exposition (IMECE), the largest interdisciplinary mechanical engineering conference in the world, online Nov. 16-19. IMECE plays a significant role in stimulating innovation from basic discovery to translational application and fosters new engineering collaborations. This year’s program includes more than 2,300 total presentations and offers hundreds of technical sessions across 17 technical tracks during the week. Special events include technical sessions on how mechanical engineers can help the medical community and educators address the COVID-19 pandemic, the student oral presentation and poster competitions, and an annual awards event that includes a tribute to the careers of outstanding engineering leaders, along with other special award recognitions, networking and entertainment.

Who:  Engineering professionals from a variety of disciplines and a range of industrial sectors, including advanced manufacturing, aerospace, advanced energy, applied mechanics, bioengineering, design engineering, energy production, conservation and recovery, environmental engineering, fluids engineering, heat transfer, materials, nanotechnology, and rail transportation, have registered to attend IMECE virtually from all over the world. Presenters include academic, research and industry leaders. Exhibitors and sponsors include universities, publishers, and businesses from a variety of industries.
