Map of the Month: GfK Purchasing Power, Germany 2021

GfK's Map of the Month for January shows the projected distribution of purchasing power in Germany in 2021.

According to GfK's latest purchasing power prognosis, Germans will have €23,637 per person for consumer purchases, living expenses, recreation and saving in 2021. This is a nominal per-person increase of 2.0 percent or €453 over the revised forecasted values from last year. But the amount of purchasing power available to consumers differs widely from region to region: With €33,363 per person, inhabitants of the Bavarian district of Starnberg have 41 percent more purchasing power than the national average, followed by the rural districts of Munich (€32,031) and Hochtaunuskreis (€31,873).
