46th Design Automation Conference Names Executive Committee

BOULDER, Colo.—(BUSINESS WIRE)—October 22, 2008— The Design Automation Conference (DAC), the premier event for the electronics design and design automation industries, today announced the Executive Committee for the 46th DAC, which will take place July 26-31, 2009 at the Moscone Center in San Francisco. The Executive Committee is charged with overseeing the exhibition, planning the technical program, establishing new initiatives, and managing the conferences operations and publicity.

Andrew B. Kahng of the University of California at San Diego will serve as General Chair and lead the 46th Executive Committee. Kahng received the A.B. in applied mathematics from Harvard College and the M.S. and Ph.D. in computer science from the University of California at San Diego. He has authored well over 300 publications in the VLSI CAD literature, receiving six Best Paper awards and an NSF Young Investigator award. Kahng also served as the founding General Chair of the ACM/IEEE International Symposium on Physical Design, and since 2000 has chaired or co-chaired the Design technology working group for the International Technology Roadmap for Semiconductors. His research focuses on integrated-circuit physical design and performance analysis, as well as the VLSI design-manufacturing interface.

Dr. Kahng is joined by 15 other volunteers from across the electronics and electronic design automation (EDA) industries and academia:

Additionally, Kevin Lepine and Lee Wood of MP Associates Inc. serve as conference manager and exhibits manager, respectively.

DAC is a critical yearly event for the electronics design and design automation industries, as well as for the surrounding research community. I am overwhelmed by this stellar teams energy, enthusiasm and dedication to the conference, and am thrilled by the new directions being developed, remarked Kahng. The industry can look forward to the 46th DAC being a must-attend event for anyone involved in the electronics and EDA community.

About DAC

The Design Automation Conference (DAC) is recognized as the premier event for the design of electronic circuits and systems, and for Electronic Design Automation (EDA) and silicon solutions. A diverse worldwide community representing more than 1,500 organizations attends each year, from system designers and architects, logic and circuit designers, validation engineers, CAD managers, senior managers and executives to researchers and academicians from leading universities. Close to 60 technical sessions selected by a committee of electronic design experts offer information on recent developments and trends, management practices and new products, methodologies and technologies. A highlight of DAC is its Exhibition and Suite area with approximately 200 of the leading and emerging EDA, silicon, design service and IP providers. The conference is sponsored by the Association for Computing Machinerys Special Interest Group on Design Automation (ACM/SIGDA), the Circuits and Systems Society and Council on Electronic Design Automation of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE/CASS/CEDA) and the Electronic Design Automation Consortium (EDA Consortium).
