Enhanced DELMIA Robotics V5R19 Offers Significant Time and Cost Savings

Robot Cable Simulation, Automated Path Planning and Additional Applications Added via Dassault Systèmes Partnerships

Auburn Hills, Mich., USA, October 30, 2008 - Dassault Systèmes (Euronext Paris: #13065, DSY.PA), a world leader in 3D and Product Lifecycle Management (PLM), has announced the launch of its DELMIA Robotics V5R19 solution. This program features significant enhancements to the core V5 functionality as well as new add-on capabilities including Realistic Cable Simulation through Component Application Architecture (CAA) partner IC:IDO; Robotics Path Planner developed with Kineo CAM; and a new paint solution through CAA partner CENIT.

"Manual programming of robots inevitably leads to large amounts of non-productive robot time," said Pascal Lecland, executive vice president R&D, Dassault Systèmes Delmia Corp. "With V5R19 Robotics, we have a comprehensive solution that is even more robust than our D5 offering. Additionally, we've improved our data loading by 30 percent and our multi-user support by 25 percent to further affect productivity."

Many upgrades to the Robotics portfolio have been developed in conjunction with Dassault Systèmes CAA software partners. These add-on capabilities include:

Realistic Cabling Simulation: For illustrating how any power or air cables attached to a robot will react during robot motion. It realistically simulates how the cable will stretch, flex, move, etc., during the robot cycle and confirms that the cables can achieve the various robot reaches in addition to eliminating the chance of cables interfering with the robot tasks.

Robotics Path Planner: A solution that automatically corrects the robot path to ensure collision-free motion, allowing programmers to accomplish in minutes what used to take a day. It also optimizes the path to achieve robot cycle time reduction for additional productivity gains on the plant floor. It saves time in all stages, from simulation to execution, providing true realistic simulation.

Painting Application: An application that allows for the simulation of complete spray booth work cells. Spray gun and paint attributes can be entered into the painting device and the results can be graphically displayed in multiple colors illustrating relative film thickness; or exact thickness can be obtained though the uses of a built-in film build gauge. Complex paint booths can be constructed, and multiple robot moving line applications can be simulated.

Other application add-on solutions include Arc Welding, Spot Welding, Riveting/Drilling, and Cutting/Trimming. Additional enhancements in V5R19 include extended translators in the offline programming capability for the Welding solutions to accommodate Kawasaki and Panasonic robots.

DELMIA's V5 Robotics allows for the design, simulation, optimization and off-line programming of robotic workcells in a 3D digital factory environment. DELMIA V5 Robotics and add-on products are aimed at delivering unprecedented reductions in man-hours and process engineering lead time while greatly improving program accuracy. Whether the application consists of modeling a single, specific workcell or an entire factory line, Robotics V5 offers large- and small-scale solutions guaranteed to improve manufacturing quality, accuracy and profitability.
